Take on one of the UK’s greatest mountain challenges — the legendary Welsh 3000s. Over three unforgettable days, you’ll summit all of Eryri’s (Snowdonia’s) highest peaks: the mighty Snowdon Massif (Yr Wyddfa), the dramatic Glyderau, and the wild, sprawling Carneddau. That’s over 15 summits above 3,000 feet, linked by thrilling ridges, breath-taking views, and stories steeped in Welsh folklore.

Led by our qualified, first-aid trained Mountain Leaders, this 3-day guided Welsh 3000s challenge is tailored for adventurous hikers, teams, and fundraising groups. We focus on safety, pacing, and expert support — giving you the confidence to take on this demanding journey, one mountain at a time.

From the giant-slaying legends of Snowdon, to the jagged rocks of the Glyderau, and the wild ponies of the Carneddau, every step offers challenge, inspiration, and connection to the landscapes of North Wales. With distances of 40–50km and over 4,500m of ascent, this is no ordinary hike — it’s a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Three-Day Route Plan:

Day 1 — Snowdon Massif (Yr Wyddfa) - The Technical Day

- Mountains: Crib Goch, Garnedd Ugain and Yr Wyddfa

- Distance: 11km • Ascent: 955m

- Highlight: The Exposure and Excitement of Crib Goch with a Summit of Yr Wyddfa and panoramic views!

Day 2 — The Glyderau - The Dramatic day

- Mountains: Elidir Fawr, Y Garn, Glyder Fawr, Glyder Fach and Tryfan

- Distance: 16km • Ascent: 1523m

- Highlight: Dramatic rock features & and scrambling

Day 3 — Carneddau - The Long day

- Mountains: Pen Yr Ole Wen, Carnedd Dafydd, Yr Elen, Carnedd Llewelyn, Foel Grach, Carnedd Gwenllian and Foel-fras.

- Distance: 25km • Ascent: 1437m

- Highlight: Solitude, wild ponies & sweeping views

  • The 3-day Welsh 3000s is a tough undertaking with significant distance and ascent. A good level of fitness and determination is required, but with our expert guides and pacing, it is achievable for committed walkers.

  • Experience on at least one Grade 1 scramble is needed. If you’ve completed long mountain days before and are comfortable walking for 6–10 hours with breaks, you’ll be ready. Our guides adapt the pace to suit the group.

  • Sturdy boots, waterproof jacket and trousers, warm clothing, hat, gloves, food, and 2–3 litres of water. A full kit list will be sent when you book.

  • Accommodation is not included, but we’ll provide recommendations for local hotels, hostels, or campsites near each section.

  • Weather in Snowdonia can be unpredictable. Our qualified Mountain Leaders check forecasts, adapt routes as necessary, and always put safety first.

  • Yes, we regularly run Welsh 3000s challenges for fundraising teams and companies. Additional leaders and support can be arranged.
